Vampire: The Masquerade: Bloodlines, abbreviated as Bloodlines or VTMB, is a computer role-playing game for Windows developed by Troika Games in 2004. Like Activision's Vampire: The Masquerade: Redemption, Bloodlines is set in White Wolf, Inc.'s Vampire: The Masquerade universe, but it is not a sequel to the earlier game. The game allows the player to choose one of several different vampire clans and progress through the game according to the different strengths and weaknesses of the player's character, as in its paper and pencil role playing origins.

Bloodlines is notable for being the first game along with Half-Life 2 to use Valve's Source engine, which allows the game to be played from either the first-person or third-person shooter perspective. There were many technical and playability bugs in the first version of Bloodlines, but none were judged to be serious enough to delay shipping the game. After Bloodlines was released to the public, Activision compiled a list of problems customers were reporting to its customer service department and on various Vampire websites. It then authorized Troika to spend a week creating a patch to address the most serious issues. However, Troika's inability to find revenue from another project had already forced the developer to lay off all its employees in two waves, except for the three owners: Jason Anderson, Leonard Boyarsky and Tim Cain. Despite this, several employees continued to work without pay on the Version 1.2 patch, which after three weeks was released on December 22, 2004.

Unable to find additional work, Troika disestablished in February 2005,leaving behind an essentially unfinished game with numerous remaining bugs. Fans of Bloodlines continued to create and release unofficial patches to address this situation.

This is a new Release of Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines. While the original release and many other releases did contain all the necessary files for a clean install of Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, they were flawed by Vista installation problems, stability issues, crack problems, and poor documentation. By converting the content to a portable steam format with a single installer, providing working cracks and better documentation, and including the Official and Unofficial Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines patches, these issues have been resolved. Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines, is one of the best RPG's to come into existence and is a tribute to the unpaid work of its former developers at Troika.

This release is intended to provide accessibility to those individuals who found difficulty in utilizing the Federation's original Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines release. It has the advantages of being portable, smaller, updated (to the newest Unofficial patch) and shows increased stability. Because of these advantages this release is intended to replace all previous Federation Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines releases.

Install Notes

Steps:

(1.) Extract the "Vampire The Masquerade Bloodlines - Ultimate.rar" file to a directory of your choice and then Navigate to the extracted directory (by default this is the "Vampire The Masquerade" directory). Double-click on the "Vampire_Masquerade_Shortcuts.exe" program. This program is not necessary as it only installs shortcuts (makes no changes to the game files which are already updated, modded, and cracked).

(2.) Click through the installation instructions. Make certain that you install
the shortcut program to the "Vampire The Masquerade" directory.

(4.) Open the desired shortcut (which by default is) located on your desktop to
start the game.

(3.) Morrowind Co-op [Portable]

This is a new Release of Morrowind and its initial expansion, Bloodmoon. Tribunal has not been included as the Federation feels it damages game play. Originally this release was created to deal with issues found in the original non-Federation releases and many subsequent releases, including two critical Vista stability issues, and frequent playability problems. By utilizing a new wrapper of Microsoft DirectX through the MGEgui mod and complete rebuilds of the games textures through a multitude of graphic enhancement mods the Federation has been able to release a version of Morrowind which is portable, completely stable, and possesses graphics which in many instances are better than those of Elders Scrolls IV: Oblivion.

The Federation also included in this release a multiplayer function. This two player co-op function is provided through a bundled version of Morrowind Online which has been modified by the Federation for stability. Unfortunately the original issues which led to this mod being abandoned remain, primarily the inability to save new character data. This mod will however allow any two single player characters to meet and traverse the world together. The Federation considers these issues to be inconsequential as the main purpose of this release is to provide accessibility by resolving vista-related installation and gameplay issues.

I implore you to read the documentation as this release may require limited user configuration if problems present themselves.

While this Vampire the Masquerade releases works flawlessly 90% of the time, and are portable as stated in the installation notes it has been noted to crash on start-up of character dialogue for some individuals with contemporary hardware. This is very unfortunate but the Federation has a solution to this partially nuked release and is working non-stop to implement it (CAD file editing). In the interim either please be patient or utilize one of the Federation's older DVD based distros which don't suffer from this error.

Im having the same issue as Lion85ness and DioMat, but with a little extra.

I installed the shortcuts.ex and it loaded to my desktop, but when I click the desktop icon it just flashes a black box at me.

If I go into the directory and click on the link there, located in VamptheMasquerade/VamptheMasquerade/ (abbreviated) it will load the game, I can click on anything but New Game. It loads about halfway then crashes.

You say you're working on a solution but where will you upload it when you're done?

Like all Federation release this one has been upgraded to be both portable and thinner, while utilizing less active memory. Several scripts have additionally been added to prevent crashes related to Vista incompatibility. It is also noteworthy that this release has had all corporate logo files removed.
